There are a few pandemics that will be long remembered. The "Black Death" plague, Spanish Flu, and the "Politically Incorrect" virus that we're still arguing over where it came from and that killed a lot of people worldwide irregardless.

As to your first point ya, when you started it Coronavirus?! Really left the door wide open, but has to be the most impacting in 2020 like a Nuke was dropped on the World. Impacting to say the least, good starter, short and sweet.

Second your Post#1 also left a lot of room for anything that would stick. Economic, Political, emotional, dramatic, it will continue to prove over time as well.

It’s not over yet, the impact will reverberate for some time to come.

I thought it funny you drpped it and walked away just like your avatar. Hilarious. lol

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm a little sorry I even started this thread; it probably caused undue headaches for the mods. I could troll professionally, if I so chose, but it's beneath me. Besides, the world has enough
lobbyists and politicians already.

(Do we have a kitten-vs-puppies thread on this list yet?)

How dare you pit kittens and puppies against each other??? ... it's unfair because kittens always win by a landslide!

For me the pandemic is unofficially over. We are still playing mask theater here but as a member of the fully vaccinated, I'm heading maskless and social distancingless to:
CAESARS BUFFET LAS VEGAS

You do know as thread starter/owner you can ask for it to be closed. There is so much unreliable information in it!
"Is it time to panic yet? If no, when?"

On this we can all agree but this was IMO never intended to be a informational thread, it was and is a discussion of personal opinions and observations, that has mainly been within site discussion limits.

What's going on? ... I'm convinced that the damn virus is not artificial. But now there's speculation from some respectful sources that it might have escaped a lab... what are the odds that's what really happened?

The premise has long been that it was a natural virus under study at the lab and was accidentally released. WHO was limited in its access to investigate and prevented from doing so in many cases by local officials. Lots of confusion and dissention of opinions at WHO. We may never know the truth. The Wall Street Journal is facing the same obfuscation that other journalists have encountered during their investigations as has the WHO.

Every now and then I give that some thought and always come up empty handed. Maybe it did and maybe it didn't escape a lab, beats me. I really doubt the truth will ever be known.

Here in my little world things are returning to normal. Today I ventured out to the supermarket. Effective today my local Giant Eagle supermarket dropped the mask requirement, one way aisles and one way door in and one way door out. Some people were wearing mask nd some no. I noticed the employees were masked. I told the cashier it was nice to see a return to normal and she agreed. However, as I went to exit the exit police got me. Fellow yells at me "Sir, you can't go out that way". I replied yes I can. My cashier came to my rescue and told the other employee the one way stuff was done. The guy apologized and I went along my way. Told the guy it was OK and just force of habit. :)

In a few weeks we will be at the beach in North Carolina which I look forward to. Then Jan 30th we board a cruise from San Diego down the Mexico coast to S. America and through the Panama Canal and up through the Caribbean eventually ending in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. WE already know we will need vaccination proof to board the cruise ship and fly to San Diego. I am just happy to resume as close to normal as we can get. I am just tired of all of it. I know our governor has learned where his powers stop. I figure next election he will be voted out. :)

Even the chinese have presented several variations from the wet market to US soldiers bringing it to china to even complete denial at the beginning...

No it’s not OK. It’s just the cheating that is increasing in our society today. The worst of it is the internet based sharing and encouraging of this behavior. This includes things like modifying vehicle exhausts and other lies. It’s become some kind of manly thing to do. Why? Because in 8th grade it was cool and the dad encouraged it? That same kid was a grown up rioter smashing the Capital windows on Jan 6. And now whining about the trouble he is in. Why can’t people grow up?

At the risk that I missed something what are you talking about? What is not OK? Maybe we went to different schools for 8th grade? I know we had different fathers as my father never encouraged any form of bad behavior. I also never encouraged bad behavior with my own children or grandchildren. So one more time what the hell are you talking about?

About all the folks that are lying about being Vaxed so they won't have to mask... Not to mention that they probably never wore one before at all.
