What's new about that, not the link but the equation? Its worked for the NRA, that's the reason CC laws became so popular, there is a boogeyman around every corner.
Off topic but

With CC laws it's not ignorance or fear, it's a logical response to actual crime.

More pandemic related, some of us are packing heat for the invasion.

Ignorance (in the form of racism) and fear is why we have as many anti-gun laws as we do: Then and now they were designed to keep guns out of the hands of young black men. They're very little different than the poll taxes of the past - institutional racism infringing a constitutional right.

CDC Director Warns of 'Impending Doom'

Looks like the nationwide 'fourth wave' didn't happen because of vaccination rates.

As of Wednesday, the United States was averaging about 52,600 new cases a day, a 26 percent decline from two weeks ago, and a number comparable to the level of cases reported in mid-October before the deadly winter surge, according to a New York Times database. Since peaking in January, cases, hospitalizations and deaths nationwide have drastically declined.

New York will end a longstanding curfew next month that forced bars and restaurants to close early in a bid to fight the spread of the coronavirus, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said on Wednesday.
...
The state will also allow people in New York City to sit at bars starting on Monday, for the first time since Mr. Cuomo implemented a statewide shutdown last March. Even as establishments have been allowed to welcome customers indoors, patrons were required to be seated at tables.

The restaurant industry welcomed the news.

“It’s great news that the state will finally undo the bar stool ban and lift the arbitrary midnight curfew,” said Andrew Rigie, the executive director of the New York City Hospitality Alliance, an industry group. “These outdated policies made it too difficult for too many small business owners and workers to support themselves and their families, and were a grave inconvenience to customers.”

A silver lining for COVID-19, it can cure cancer.

Complete remission of follicular lymphoma after SARS-CoV-2 infection: from the “flare phenomenon” to the “abscopal effect”
In a 61-year-old patient affected from follicular lymphoma, end-of-treatment [18F]FDG-PET/CT (panel B) revealed bilateral pneumonia suggestive for COVID-19, subsequently confirmed by a nasal swab. Simultaneously, images showed the shrinkage of a para-aortic lymph nodal lesion compared to baseline (arrows), consistent with a partial response to R-bendamustine (panels B–F vs A–E). Re-staging [18F]FDG-PET/CT, obtained after SARS-CoV-2 recovery, showed an increase in size and in [18F]FDG avidity of the para-aortic lesion, suggestive for progressive disease (panels C-G-I). During COVID-19 infection and after, he did not experience any symptoms [1]. Surprisingly, malignancy was excluded by CT-guided biopsy performed twice, and this finding was confirmed by a second follow-up scan showing a complete metabolic response (panels D–H).

Complete remission after a concurrent infection has been reported in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma [2] and Hodgkin lymphoma [3].

How do you distinguish between real threat and paranoi

I would not be surprised if there is a link between the remission and immune response to the virus. There is a great opportunity to learn if we only chose to do so...
People thought Doomsday Preppers were paranoid until last year. ;) Distinguishing between real threats and paranoia has been the hallmark of this pandemic.

It's easy, another person tries to directly kill or cause serious harm to you and/or those you love and protect. If you drive a car you make the same decisions with a possible human killing machine every time you interact with another driver.

Since the Vaccine isn’t a live virus, maybe people who react to the shot might get a similar response from the immune system thereby triggering a similar effect.

Wish full thinking.......

It would be interesting if they did. The issue is exposure to real virus engages immune system on a much different level than this vaccine. It also varies from individual to individual. We will need many years of careful studies in order to distinguish between vaccine and real infection. I personally suspect vaccine is a loser for majority of the population.
