But just pure greed. Many of the restaurants being sued in now way affect the business of the owner of the phrase.

We had a local church sued by a Florida company, for using the name Hot Dogma for their restaurant that earned a few extra bucks for the church selling hotdogs. I can guarantee you that the vast majority (if not all) of the church's patrons in no way were confusing the church's restaurant for the Florida restaurant.

I could guess...I can't put jalapenos in my Appalachian Three Bean Chili and you can't put olive oil in your pasta water.
Take it one step farther and I can't make chili at all and you can't make pasta at all.
