You described the protection quite clearly. It would be a simple but worthy addition to any power supply cum charger. If it is not asking too much, is it possible to post a circuit diagram. It will be a big help.
Hi,

You mean the protection circuit?

First you connect a diode in antiparallel to the original output, and that is no longer the actual output.
Then, just connect a fuse between that old output and the newly formed output, positive lead.
The ground lead can stay the same.

So it's just a diode and fuse.
The diode should be at least a 1N5400 series but maybe you want to go bigger on that.

You're welcome. BTW the fuse should be a fast-acting fuse of course, and the diode should probably be a nice big one maybe even bigger than the 1N5400 series type. The whole idea is we want the fuse to blow before the diode(s) blows out.

Right! Perhaps even a parallel pair of 1N5400s or bigger. And the lowest possible amperage rating for the fuse. Again, much appreciated.
