Has anyone come across this connector before? It looks just like an RJ45 but it has 12 conductors instead of 8.
This is on a marine handset that I need to extend.
Modular connectors, like that one, use nomenclature like nPnC where P is positions and C is contacts. So your connector would be a 12P12C, also called 12x12. Unfortunately, the biggest I know of is 10P10C.
Does the handset actually use all those wires. It seems excessive.

Thanks for that info. This is an Inmarsat JUE-251. There are 2 pins of the 12 that are not used.

The most ideal installation would require both male and female.
I would like to have a jumper from the main unit to a bulkhead connector which the handset can connect to.

This may not be attainable as the 12P12C connector is not as popular as a standard RJ45.
