What is this connector?

Welcome to AAC.

Modular connectors, like that one, use nomenclature like nPnC where P is positions and C is contacts. So your connector would be a 12P12C, also called 12x12. Unfortunately, the biggest I know of is 10P10C.

Does the handset actually use all those wires. It seems excessive.

What is the brand and model of the handset/radio?

Thanks for the replies.

Ya'akov,
Thanks for that info. This is an Inmarsat JUE-251. There are 2 pins of the 12 that are not used.

Externet,
Thanks for the link.
The most ideal installation would require both male and female.
I would like to have a jumper from the main unit to a bulkhead connector which the handset can connect to.
See pic.

This may not be attainable as the 12P12C connector is not as popular as a standard RJ45.

I believe the link shows both. As last resource, at some places you can sustitute one 12P12C with two RJ45 8P8C
Saw them at Alibaba too.
