Can anyone identify this component?

 

It would help if you told us what kind of unit it came from.

 

Just off the cuff, it looks like an electret microphone. I said "it LOOKS LIKE". It could be something else, but that's where I'm laying down a dime, a nickel and two pennies. (my 17¢)

 

Welcome to AAC! Lot's things it could be, in fact, it looks like an electric lighter element but I doubt that it is. What did it come out of, what is it used for. Maybe a wider picture of where it came from. Make, model, etc.

 

Looks a bit like a land-line telephone in the background of the first pix.

 

yeah if it's not a heat sink or something over a can, looks like air holes for sound, maybe someone bugged the phone thingy

Any designations on the PCB like B1?

 

The item behind it with blue mounting looks like an electret mic, with rubber mounting for noise isolation. So I would guess this is the speaker. either from a telephone or intercom. Second thoughts it could be a sounder for the ringtone.

 

Let's have the big picture, what is the large white object in bits ??

 

Two leads, one shielded, it sure looks like an electret mic to me.
