Hi guys
I am a wheelchair user and would like to add a 2nd controller to my wheelchair at the back so if I have someone with me they can do the steering.
I have a quickie 500 electric wheelchair.

So to make this work I need a cable splitter.
I have googled it and the cable that I need is called R-net cable.
However to get a simple splitter cable can cost over £100! Plus then I need extension cable to get upto the back of the chair, this is another £100 plus.

So I would like to make my own cable, but I can’t find the connectors only to buy.
Hence my question, what is the connector called so I can buy some and do it myself and save lots of money!

From what I can see they seem to be used only on wheelchairs hence their price. Anything to do with disability you just add £££ onto the price.

As you can see on the photo, the connectors are not just a 4 point connector as the two bottom pins are further apart that the top two.

Any help gratefully received.

If you really can’t find anyone selling a lead at sensible prices, then I’d consider adding an additional connector in series, with the additional connector providing the splitting.

Bear in mind that the connector is likely to be IP rated for outdoor use, and any modification should be similarly protected from the elements.

Alternatively you could just cut the cable and wire in the splitter circuitry directly – but making a neat job of it might prove difficult.

Thanks Hymie,
Adding a different sort of connection into the wiring or splicing into the loom at it is, could be an option, but then I would be making permeant changes to the wiring and it might affect the warranty on the wheelchair.
if I can find the right connectors, then it’s just a bit of wire, but can easily be reversed if needed.
And you are right, these connectors do seem like they are splash resistant if not waterproofish!

That’s a good price.
Thanks for finding it.
I still wonder why I can’t just buy the connectors on their own. These companies must buy them from somewhere!
