I tried to contact #12 through PM a while back and never heard back. Good to hear he is okay and I haven't been here as long as most of you, but I have learned a lot about electronics through him and you guys as well. I guess at some point everything must come to an end but it would be nice if we reached out to individuals when they have devoted so much time on here just to make sure that they are okay or otherwise. Anyways, thanks for finding out for us and lets keep on figuring things out. Cheers everyone!

Yeah, I suspected there had been some "volcanic activity" between Gopher and the moderator(s).

 

I've been in contact with him via the email address provided in PM. He's alive, in good health. Everything is OK. He didn't cite any reason for his absence but he did mention being very busy, so maybe that's all there is to it.

More generally I think the issue of a member disappearing has been raised before here, whether it's a appropriate to perform a "wellness check".

FWIW I feel such intervention is best 'weighed', and, where deemed appropriate, conducted 'organically' (i.e. by concerned friends and associates) - as opposed to 'policy guidelines', etc... -- My $0.02

He may or may not come back. Everyone goes through ebbs and flows in their lives where something that they were passionate and intense about simply falls off the radar. Something else might have taken center stage or it might simply have become monotonous and boring. Sometimes we come back to it after a while and sometimes we don't.

I hope his life goes well for him, whether it ever meanders this way again or not.

 

I wish him good fortune wherever he may on his life journey. He will be missed around here, and who knows, the urge could strike him to return.

 

@strantor , if you ever talk to #12 again, please tell him that Martínez sends his best.

HP I totally agree! Also I always had like a _soft spot_ for sailors (which based on his posts @spinnaker really is!). Anyhow I hope we hear from him soon just to know he's alright!

I never missed an episode, except perhaps the finale if there was one. I don't recall it ever ending properly.
