I understood tensors once upon a time when I took "Strength of Materials" and encountered the stress tensor in I-beams. That was 59 years ago so my memory is just a wee bit foggy.

IIRC the key insight is to generalize the notion of a vector field. Fluid flow is a common vector field that is easy to visualize where there is a velocity vector at every point with three components. The stress tensor in a sold beam under load has a tensor field with nine components at every point. It is commonly represented as a 3x3 matrix.

I don't want to get political, but just for info, there were both right wing and left wing governments, but both following neoliberal ideas.

At the turn of the century, China's accession into the WTO was approved, to be implemented on late 2001.
At the time, a renowned economist told me some prophetic words: "In the long term, China's entrance into the WTO will make you and a lot of people significantly less wealthy, if not alright poorer."

With the opening to the external market, the Brazilian companies died right away (this was in mid 80s, I wasn't even born). You need decades of protection (which is costly and people get a bad product for a while) to get the company to compete with external ones. Who can compete with China now? No one. But also many countries are not protecting their companies, they are "free" (in the jungle, to survive by their own). USA is one example that comes to mind regarding the BYD flooding the market being cheaper. If USA didn't protect (ban BYD in their country), Tesla would die in few years.

Thank you for pointing out one of the most important things about myths. The fact that it happened once doesn't make it universally true.
Try swapping the LM358 for an NE5532. . .
