For the below IC, what does voltage tracking mean?

Can someone explain in simple terms for easy understanding?

Commonly, voltage regulators contain a voltage reference.
This one uses an external reference so its output voltage tracks the reference it is supplied with. If the reference doubles, the output voltage doubles. The output may be less than, equal to, or greater than, the supplied reference voltage.
