I am using the dual band cell phone amp from Wilson with a small 2-3 inch magnetic antenna. I think the performance stinks.
The antenna alone got me 1 extra bar. the amp that cost 200$
gets me 1 more bar ,so I am getting 2 bars more but was expecting 3 more. If I change to a taller antenna will it help??
Any suggestions...specific antennas..??? thanks..

An amplifier won't help very much if the basic signal level in your location is too poor. Placing an antenna on top of 200 foot tower does wonders for receiving weak signals. The problem with that approach is that 200 feet of 7/8" hardline coaxial cable still has appreciable loss especially for the wimpy output stage in a cellphone.

Cell phone signals in the 1.8 GHz range are affected by things like humidity and precipitation. I don't recommend climbing a 200' tower just to make a call. Sorry about the Wilson, maybe someone on Ebay will take it off your hands.
