A voltage measured without a load is a virtually useless number.

The 10Mohm load of a multimeter still technically ís a load, so what use is that number when you know what the load was?

 

Well, you have just demonstrated that your high impedance meter works like a high impedance meter.

If your sink was in the circuit with the mains power, the sum of the hot-to-sink plus neutral-to-sink would have equaled the hot-to-neutral.

Please measure AMPs from sink to ground. Do you get anything? Likely no.

So it was static buildup. Go measure some other things in your house. Walk across the nylon carpet while wearing sox or rubber bottom slippers and then measure yourself vs ground.

None at all, unless the load is more like 10KΩ. If a voltage is still there on a 10K, it's not a ghost.

 

Try unplugging your garbage disposer, it could be grounding though it
