Hello,

I was wondering, is it possible to switch the power supply of an opamp on and off via a switch or output of a microcontroller? For example to save batterylife.
I heard something about latch up symptoms that occur when you apply a input signal when the power supply is turned off? Does this damage the opamp?

 

First what exactly do you want to do (do you have a schematic)? Second the datasheet for the OpAmps you are considering should tell you what their behavior is when power is removed.
