Actually what it means is that you don't know or are too lazy to look up information that can be found in thousands of places on the internet, including right at the top of this forum.

hey look mister we didnt read yet at university about amplificaiton so thats y am searching on it <snip>

A transistor acts as a gate for amplification,or switching. A small signal goes in, (base) a larger power is added, (emitter), and a stronger signal comes out. This is a very simplified version.
