Hello, I need some help figuring this:
Arduino can only supplying up to 5V. For optimum performance of TPS28225 driver, the datasheet recommends a Wide Gate Drive Voltage: 4.5 V Up to 8.8 V With Best Efficiency at 7 V to 8 V. At 5V I'm getting a very funky output. What would be the best way to amplify the arduino signal to 7V?

 

I would think it is probably better to get a suitable supply for the TPS28225, say a 7.5V supply either from a mains power supply or batteries and use that to power the Arduino as well. IIRC the voltage regulator on the Arduino will be fine with a 7.5V supply, just make sure you connect it to Vin on the Arduino not the 5V pin.

 

Why do you think that you have to run the '28225 from 8V? Based on the data sheet, it will run just fine on 5V.

I ran it with with 5V from the arduino and my outputs were very distorted; lots of noise that could cause an overshoot. You'd notice It recommended texas instrument it recommends 7V to 8V for best efficiency.
