For their study the team, from the Desert Research Institute in Nevada, examined ice cores – columns of ice up to 3,400m long that are extracted using enormous drills. Gas bubbles trapped in the ice offer insights into the atmosphere of past eras, while the presence of pollutants such as lead can be used to indicate industrial activity. Analysis of three ice cores revealed that European lead emissions sharply increased around 15 BCE following the rise of the Roman empire.
They remained high for around 150 years until the Empire began to decline.

I would like to see anyone prove any IQ drop in a time before IQ tests.

That Gateway area was once so nice but the city of PORTLAND OREGON let the homeless, druggies and criminals own it. A major anchor store (Kohls in Gateway Portland) is closing because of unchecked criminality and I wouldn't be surprised to see the this close too.

Nice but far too little and too late.

 

Time to vote for different Democrats.

This goes beyond BS political parties.

Decent people of all political stripes have given up on the city and it's a damn shame but I think there is hope for a long term recovery from 'rock bottom'.
