I have a Skullcandy Barrel Bluetooth stereo that I purchased not working from eBay.
the circuit board had 3 blown capacitors which I replaced with equivalent rated rubycons. The board will still not power up after replacing the capacitors by either power cord or battery. I tested for power at the port/plug that feeds the power, mode, volume buttons and there is no power. It seems this mystery chip in the power supply might be a buck converter? is what I am thinking. But it seems to come from nowhere. I did email skullcandy‘s Brad Helm which is the head of engineering (I think), and he responded back in a few hours but has since went dark after his first reply. I think he realized I didn’t work from the company, and probably thinks I’m an industrial spy or something. But I am not going to reply back outside of answering his original questions about the problem and pictures. I don’t want to harass anyone. So I will add a couple of pictures of the board and welcome any feedback on how to ID this mystery chip.
thanks,
Kevin
PS the power cord and battery both put out the proper voltage and are working correctly.
