Why do you think that most armies are made up of the very young of society, they are 'Invincible' and also very easy to instill discipline during the boot camp stage where the camaraderie bonds are made.
Most are raised in a religions background where they are instilled with commandments, one of which is usually 'Thou shall not kill'.
But then a rifle is place in their hands and they instructed to go out and kill the 'enemy' many of which include women and children.
For the effects of war on those that partake, a very good documentary is the one by Ken Burns 10 part series on the Vietnam war, which displays the evil on both sides.
Max.
Even 'evil' is relative.

We were given UN orders via naval command to assist Vietnamese boat people (leaving after the US war) escaping the cross-border war with Cambodia (that was pure evil on par with the German holocaust). Our (the CO) interpretation of the order was to destroy or disable 'pirates' (law of the sea) attacking those refugee boats even if the attacking 'pirate' boats had families aboard. No one batted an eye about those women and children being killed or wounded. We were told NOT to rescue any of the refugees because that would require a deviation off our military mission (attacking bad guys with Cobra gunships) if we had to deliver them to a camp in Thailand or Philippines. For those unlucky refugee women and children who at first believed they were saved by our ship, we dropped a few bags of rice, gave them fuel and minimal medical treatment on a overcrowded boat before moving on to the next one, to at the very least a horrible existence at the hands of those 'pirates' we missed if captured by them. I'd like to believe they all made but we know that many did not.

A rich uncle of mine once said to me when I was still a kid "and remember, c .... everyone's a salesman" ... well, this girl has outperformed us all:

Wearing a deep blue evening dress, the initially unidentified woman managed to make herself known to the paparazzi at Sunday's award ceremony by photobombing almost every red carpet shot -- appearing behind just about everyone from Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis to Idris Elba and Richard Madden.

Incredible helicopter skills (if real)!
Notice that one thing he did was to push the nose/skid of the helicopter into the snow. That drastically increases the stability. But those rotors were definitely close to the snow -- though there is some forgiveness there as long as it's not ice packed.

Virginia Beach Navy officer stole $2.7 million to feed high-stakes poker habit
Lt. Randolph Prince, 45, was sentenced this week to more than four years in federal prison.
...
“When his time in service is remembered, it won’t be for the fact that he rose from the lowest enlisted ranks to the grade of Lieutenant, or that he served in a dangerous war zone in direct combat when his nation needed him most. It will be the events of this sentencing hearing that are his legacy,” Cline wrote. “Rather than being something with which he can look back on with pride, he will spend the rest of his life hoping that the people with whom he interacts are not aware of the time he spent serving in the Navy.”

Four years for $2.7 million stolen from the US government. The guy must have had incriminating information on somebody higher up the chain.

Assuming what is under the snow is more snow. It could be a rock out cropping. My guess is that the pilot knows the mountain EXTREMELY well and/or reviews detailed recent summer photos of the area before attempting rescue.

I've seen some pretty wild landings (and a few crashes) on ships but this one is also incredible.

There is a main recovery assist tethering cable that hooks to the circular grid on the landing platform when it lands on the US rasp system.

“Theft of scratch-off Lottery Ticket reveals $10 million winning ticket purchased in Vacaville”

Back on December 20th, a Vacaville shopper went to the Lucky Grocery Store on Peabody Rd to purchase a $30 Scratcher Lottery Ticket with hopes of winning a little extra cash for the holidays. The ticket turned out to be a winner - and he thought it was worth $10,000.

He returned home and shared this wonderful news with his 2 roommates.
