This 2012 nonsense is annoying

I do not disagree with science. Just some matters.
Like say for example...loosing the atmosphere or the sun flares destroying the earth's magnetic field.
It's not gonna happen.
Are you talking about when the Earth's magnetic field flips? This happens. According in the latest research, it happens on average every 375 thousand years. Right now we are about 275 thousand years overdue and there has recently (in the last 75 years) been a huge increase in the rate at which the poles have been drifting. These polarity changes are typically accompanied by long periods of highly reduced or, at best, ambiguous global magnetic field. Solar flares do not destroy the Earths magnetic field, it does this all by itself. During these transition times, the earth is exposed to all the particle radiation from the sun. When it happens it will be, shall we say, a major inconvenience to humans.

375 years? Where are you getting that low number from? If it happens that often humans and other species have nothing to worry about.

Sorry, left the word 'thousand' out in both cases. Must be senility.

Humans, as animals, may not have too much to worry about (well, maybe some), but our electronic infrastructure may not work as designed.

4. The Time Machine
5. Planet of the Apes - Moses, or Marky Mark.
6. Terminator
7. AI
8. Waterworld
9. 12 Monkeys
10. Battlefeild Earth
11. Legion - Newer but really cool.

So far out of the list I'd go with "On the beach."
A few movies I have not seen. Thanks for the tips.:)

I believe I have to deal with the disasters as it comes along. Preparing my household with food, water and some cash, euro and dollar. And, of course, something to protect us with. :D

The thing that hits close to possible ;) for me is the LHC is going to FULL POWER (7 trillion electron volts) in December 2012. It has only been operated at half power thus far. (3.5 trillion eV)

Someone check to see what they have scheduled for December 12th 2012.

Probably marked as "Completely CONTROLLABLE Black Hole formations, on small scale" ;)

Cue up the BIG SLURPING NOISE audio.

As we all get sucked into the great, and quite dense, unknown.

A great ironic end to us. The search for answers of the unknown end in us finding the answer.

Please educate me. What is LHC? My ignorance has no limits.... Maybe it's sucked into the black hole already

Thanks. Swiss is in Europe. I'm in Europe and you are in ... Baltimore. Isn't that, what we call, "Over there".

Don't think that will happen either. Guess I die of age, moving snow, on a freezing november evening...

But then again, I could be wrong.
You will die if you wear tiger print bikini breifs whilst moving snow!

Just remember to change after dropping the 500,000$ to Rifaa.

The ignorance is on the part of those people whose job it is to 'report' about this scientific achievement, yet talk of such things in very unscientific terms and using emotionally inflammatory language.

FACT: Black holes with masses smaller than planetary bodies, evaporate. They do so quite quickly.

FACT: Any 'black hole' created by the LHC would have a mass on the scale of 'a few atoms'. Such a black hole would be lucky to remain coherent long enough to even be detected.

The so called news reporters have run with the idea of a black hole as something that swallows worlds, but fail to mentions such black holes have masses of several suns. Creating THAT kind of black hole cannot be done on the surface of the earth with any technology.

Black hole...BOO Radiation...AHHHHH Terrorist...Save us!

People are so DRAMATIC

I have read the Qur'an, many of the Hadith, the Torah, the Old Testment, New Testament (several versions), the Bhagavad Gita, the Adi Granth, the Book Of Morman and others.

Want to engage in a discussion with someone that knows this stuff? It seemed from the last one (the thread on answered prayers), that you did/do not.
Well, well!! My kinda guy..too bad this forum does not allow that kinda topic to be open, we can discuss this in closed doors....I firmly believe that I can convince you.....But before that ,,what do you believe in...
What do you mean by the bold text....

I do not believe what is shown in movies....but I like them for the fact the effort put in to good movies and the story that us humans can imagine....
It's just a good entertainment to me. Nothing more...same as porn...:D

LHC won't make S**T... no one can make a black hole...it's not in the power of humans to yield that kinda power. But humans can destroy themselves using nukes...Humans always takes the power to destroy not to make good.

To bill......moving out of the way is something I would do...if it comes to that...and yes. god helps to those who help themselves..this is indeed true.
I need to see Yellowstone..never heard of that.

I believe in most scientific facts cause they are stated in Quran. It is foe this reason only. What science is sated in Quran before they even had discovered it

You didn't respond to any of my posts on the last religious thread.

I do not believe in a supreme being. Took 2 years of theology though, and read all of the above texts. This is where my non-belief was forged. By studying the sacred texts of the world’s most prominent religions I was eventually convinced that God did not and could not exist. I was eventually forced to leave the theology department for asking the wrong questions and presenting ideas inconsistent with dogma. They offered me 2 years of free university in another discipline, so I took a degree in physics.

What was the question, can you rephrase it, I'll be more than happy to respond.

You said you read all the books.
You know what I think..You have read some forged ones. If you read the true ones, you will believe that there is a supreme one managing everything that happens
