Is there any way to reduce the size.of this controller board using modern ics. All I want is to display data from an arduino which im currently doing with the component jack. Can I remove any of the board that wont be used relating to the antenna?
Also can.I cut and resolder the cables going to the screen from the board

Not without a massive and totally fruitless amount of work.

Modern TV's are an elegant symphony of interdependent, symbiotic and highly integrated circuitry.
The only part you could conceivably remove without breaking anything would be the RF tuner.

You don't need the tuner, the IF stages or the detector, but even eliminating them you might not be able to chance the size of the board unless you lay out a new one.

There is a very good chance that the video circuitry on this board floats on power line Neutral in which case it would be dangerous to both people and equipment to connect it to a video source unless the video source is intended to be floated on Neutral. Of course the way around this problem is to use an RF modulator so you can send your composite video signal through the antenna connection. <== Does not address your problem by suggests that maybe you need the circuitry you propose to remove. Do you have a schematic diagram of the chassis?

Television CRT displays usually make for very poor text displays because of their large spot size and limited bandwidth. Whether it works well enough for you depends on the image and what your requirements are.
