Has she ever made something that was acceptable? You could encourage her to make that recipe. If there's nothing, I don't see any solution except to live with it and laugh about it. Limit her supplies.
The other years we have done this my oldest Sister made the cakes and pies. Yes I know She was trying to help, No I didn't mean for this to happen, I tried to fix it when She walked back in but there was "NO" fixing it. She would not stop cussing and blaming till the point of I had to ask Her to leave. Her on button was pushed and We all could not turn it off! Sorry I'm not a person that deals with drama very well. If you want to have a pity party take it somewhere else.
Edit: we all have problems.

I admit I have made my share of 'experiments' that did not work out, but am the first to agree on it, you just suck it up and learn from the mistake and try and do better next time.
But it must be disheartening when nothing turn out the same as the recipe pic.
I think cooking is like many other types of artistic endeavors, you are usually 'lucky' because you develop intuitive skills.
Max.

Baking can be an art, I'm no artist so Baking Cake or Pie not for me. What little I do know is Temp at Altitudes and Time is important, some people just want to slap something together without taking the time for the food to raise or cook through. I hate eating batter, things have to be cooked all the way and in some cases then some more. Good Thermometer gets you close, knowing how to use it even better. Calibration is important, boiled water 212˚F calculate for altitude boom. ICE and Water 32˚F plus or minus 500 btu's or 1/2˚F

Can't fix family, I never do business with them either.

I know Max but it hurt my heart to see Her act that way about it. It was all overboard reactions. Yes when the cussing started I'll have to admit I also used some colorful words but She just wouldn't Stop. It was just a cake! Ok it didn't come out right but I don't want to hear about it the rest of the day. This is when you get together and be thankful not start crap. I'm beginning to think there's something else going on She's not saying but that's just an opinion. We had to deal with a bad relationship She was in a few years ago with a low life drug addict slumbag that got her on the stuff and I think She has fallen back on the crap but I can't prove it. Just looking at the people She's back hanging around makes me think that. The running around trying to hide things from the others in my family says yes She is.

Your screen name was a tip-off. :p
It was from my old quake days wayneh. I use to be a really avid gamer and I've just kept it all these years.
I'm really not a bad person. I see all these people running about with their feelings on their sleeves and have to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I live in the real world and don't have time to deal with everybody else's problems, I have enough of my own.
Killivolt I asked some of those questions but again was met with vulgar language. yea I know you can't make someone see something they don't want to see. No I'm not perfect, Far from it. I just wish it never would have happened the way it did.

Update: my middle Sister is coming over to make them. I've asked to have her show me where I'll know how to make them.
I'm NO cake or pie maker and will never will say otherwise. I just pray every year that my turkey comes out OK as I'm no cook either. I do alright but I'd be run out of a restaurant. My Mom and Dad use to do it all. Now my Dad has passed and my Mom has Alzheimer's, Sooo I kinda had to start trying to learn. The internet is amazing.

There still might be time to order that turkey at Popeyes.
Don't think I'm quite that bad yet nsaspook.
My Sister came over and simply picked up the bottle of karo syrup and held to my face and said here's the recipe.
made two came out perfect. I don't know what she was doing wrong. also made a red velvet cake (from scratch) and they too turned out perfect.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

When I'm with my siblings, we value the time together too much to spoil it by arguing. We had hard childhoods and it's not worth sweating the little stuff.

Not really a Turkey eating guy so there's usually a side dish for me on the table, usually a small Ribeye roast.

I was leaving the Grocery Store yesterday and thought what other things could be put on the table. Fish and those clams in a half shell, then roast popped in my head. Of course traditional Turkey, ham. I only thought of fish because I wondered if you could put Tartar Sauce on turkey, I ate a Salmon Sandwich with Tartar and Thick cut Fries for dinner. Yum.

We'll see how those Turkey Tacos taste, I'll let you know Buzz or Bust.

I've been watching my Cholesterol, sticking to Chicken, Turkey, Fish or a form there of, lots of veggies. :)

I'm pleased (and, I daresay, more than a bit envious) that others enjoyed a pleasant holiday dinner!

For the benefit of any vicarious 'culinary masochists' reading -- my 'Thanksgiving day repast' consisted of a Deli Express 'chuckwagon' sandwich (said alleged aliment consisting of three scant, rather slimy, 'cold-cuts', two disparately dyed specimens of synthetic casein product masquerading as provolone and cheddar all 'bookended' by a stale 'poppy seed' bun) -- 'Washed down' with 8oz of bitumen (poorly) disguised as coffee:(

It just doesn't get better than thiso_O

We have plenty of left of overs, eating with 16 adults and 10 kids, Beer 1 turkey Brine by me, 1 Ham Mexican style (excellent) by my son in-law, Turkey Tacos (Excellent) by his brother, my wife wants the recipe, @Reloadron I will put it here for your benefit, hopefully you have a good Mexican store in your area to get the ingredients. My daughter was so worried about enough food just a regular Ham was served as well. Of course the regular mash potatoes, corn, but twist it and you have refried beans, then back to stuffing not cooked inside Turkey.

Flan, Chocolate pie, Apple pie, something else I can't say because it was gone before I could get to it.

We played "Cards Against Humanity" what a dumb game but, twisted:eek: The kids were in the basement family room watching movies, playing games and hanging out.

I hope all on the forum had a good day:)

I have to brag everyone told me my turkey was fantastic and I even agree. Seen on TV where you can inject a turkey to make it moister.
So I melted butter, added a little salt and pepper got it brown on the outside, covered and cooked. When the pop out popped I allowed it to sit for 30 to 45 mins before we cut it. You could just watch the juices roll out....:), melted in your mouth and not being a big turkey fan and just to add a pun
"I gobbled it up".

Yea we don't eat ham and turkey on Christmas cos you just had it one month earlier. we usually do a roast like nsaspook done and by the way nsaspook nice looking roast! I love cooking on a smoker or a grill.
Sorry Hypatia your past Thanksgivings hadn't been great. Hope this one was better.
dl324 nice looking turkey also.
And I'm also sorry to say but my youngest Sister did not show up for thanksgiving. My middle Sister who came by and actually made the cakes even went by to try to fix it. Now it's my fault her cakes did not come out right and I had nothing what so ever to do with it.
