HiPerhaps the failed ones could be gently ground off using a Dremel tool with an abrasive cutting disc, then each half of the remains removed with the soldering iron. Or, since I happen to have a small electric hotplate (just big enough to make coffee) (and an infrared thermometer), I've speculated that it could be set to the correct temperature to heat those LED strips from the back side. I'd have to hold the strip down flat on the hotplate with something other than a finger and grab the LED with tweezers or pliers. This discussion at Sparkfun suggests that just might work:
