stepper motor driver help

L7805 in my circuit is not working properly..it gives 2v at output..but when i check that seperately then it gives 5v..L297 is driven by L7805..and in L298 , vdd=5v ,vs=12v..

Did you use the recommended capacitors on the input (0.33uF) and output (0.1uF) of the L7805? If not, it can oscillate, and you will see somewhere around 2v out.
