Start capacitor needed for 1957 single phase electric motor

I would start with at least a 20μf to 40μf motor start rated.
If you obtained a couple of 20μf you could test using single, parallel, series combo to get in the ball park, if it is a start capacitor, it is only in circuit for a few seconds just to initiate rotation.
Are you sure it is just start cap type, or start/run type? i.e. in circuit all the time.
Max.

Thank you for your help will try this today. The starting bindings on this motor are controlled by a mechanical centrifugal switch unit so all should be good with running start capacitor type thank you again.
