Nearly all wars in known history have had some aspect of religion/faith in the Casus Belli. Granted, in the earlier wars, both "sides" believed in God, but disagreed in What God Wanted. Some thought "Their God" would give them unlimited power, if they won the war, it was "proof" for them.

This is exactly what happens when the spiritual aspect of religion is suppressed by selfish individuals. International terrorism is proof of this!

I wouldn't classify it as selfish individuals as such, but rather as greedy knowledgeable leaders controlling stupid people. I think in the very end, if we can educate ourselves to a fair level, control our personal desires and show a good sense of mutual respect, the only thing we wouldn't have been able to guess properly is: who is God or is there a God? And I think that's the fundamental aspect of religion.

Does money result in happiness? Does a person who believes in God, but ain't well of, be happy? Can faith in God alone result in a more satisfied life in the absence of materialistic pleasures? How does an atheist live a satisfied life in the absence of faith......and only on logical thinking!?

I was working on an environmental project,a electrical storm when heavy
rain came thru.Working with metal tools I had a faith that would be hard to explain.
No I was not to dumb to take cover,It was time in my life that I was near nature,
learning what bugs and berries that were ediable.Lightning was cracking
around me very close,I did not irnore danger. I don't around saying if its your
time to go.I don't say that. A real experience of faith that has been repeated.
I was caught in the eye of a hurricane cane,I stood with my back to a utility pole
that was ready to fall all over,100 mile winds blowing.I could see people watching
but impossible to help. I will call that luck that I didn't get blowned away and hurt
very bad.When the eye passed over,I was able to walk away safely.

Happy ..... to be alive, I'll bet!

 

It requires different kind of proofs for each individual to believe in something. Some just accept blindly, some don't even accept the truth being too arrogant. I guess when we die, we'll know. But in the meantime, I don't want to take my chances. Besides, it doesn't hurt to have faith, at least for me. As for atheist, I guess they should probably be the most peaceful people as, simply, death means the very end to them.

me thinks the problem with our good friend Loosewire is that his wires are all 'loose' and 'open' and hence we tend to lose 'continuity' with the topic!

Thanx for the advice. I'm sorry if you were offended by my humor, although it was never my intention in the first place as mentioned earlier.

To gain experience and education is precisely the reason for me joining online forums like AAC......and conversing with wonderful members such as yourself.

As for my searching of words to keep the post alive....i leave it to the forum members to be the judge of that.
