SMART Battery For a Drone

I am designing a product that charges Smart Drone batteries. Smart batteries use an I2C or SMBUS to communicate to the board on the smart battery. I would like to display board info on to a screen a digital screen from this battery. I was going to use a Beagle protocol analyzer to ease drop on the conversation but I don't know what is suppose to talk to the smart battery. The battery I am trying to complete is the 3DR smart battery. Is the Drone talking to the smart battery. What actually uses the SMBus to talk. Is there a standard that they use to communicate to Smart batteries.
