Really?

PS: I dont know where the omega sign is, the one I have has a line above it
But no matter, use the <Go Advanced> button on the post you are making,
and pick it off the icon list.

ω

Close enough? There is probably a <alt> shortcut, but I don't know it.

The one I have problems with is pi, it just doesn't look right to me.

<alt> 2 2 7 = π

ω = 2πf

The only icon list I see when I "Go Advanced" has 14 smilies of various kinds. In the Additional Options, I see sections for Miscellaneous Options, Attach Files, Thread Subscription, and Rate Thread.

Where is this icon list of which you speak?

Click <User CP> (User Control Panel) above post.

Then click <Edit Options> ,

then go to the very bottom of the page, to the Miscellaneous Options,

On the Message Editor Interface select <Standard Editor> or <Enhanced Interface>.

You will then have the options shown on my screen shot.

Here's the extended ASCII table with all the special characters.

Just hold ALT and type any of those numbers for the desired symbol. But I prefer the symbols on the right side of the text box.

There used to be a trick in Win95 (& I believe 98) where you could go into MSDOS and create a folder who's name contained an ALT 255, which is a blank character (not a space). The folder would show up in windows, but windows didn't recognize the character, so you wouldn't be able to access it. I made a pair of little batch programs that would rename my porn folder, one with a ALT 255, and one with a space, so I could "lock" and "unlock" it so my parents wouldn't find it. Later my computer got a virus and they had a computer-savvy friend come over. He deleted a bunch of stuff and, as he was leaving, remarked so that I could hear, "yeah there was one folder which seemed to be locked by some clever method, but I was finally able to get into it and delete everything in there. I think that's where the virus was. Be careful what you download."

Just curious, did you look at the links I gave in post #1? It is a much more comprehensive list. I bookmark it on all the machines I use. But still, no ω to be had.

I can't get any of these to work on my win7 laptop. Been using them for years on other OS 'puters.
try it on the number pad on the right. I'm win 7 and it works for me with the numpad. If I try to use the numbers across the top, it's some sort of shortcut and my browser starts going to wacky places.

Laptop doesn't have a number pad on the right, just the numbers across the top.
Most laptops (and I think netbooks) still have a NumLock key which turns some of the keys on the normal keyboard into the number keys. Those should produce the same codes as the normal keypad.

Nope no numlock, closest thing I have to that is a function (fn) that gives me a few extra functins like eject dvd, volume, lcd/crt, etc..
Believe me, I want this to work!!

Try using Alt+Fn and the normal number keys at the top.

Try using Alt+Fn and the usual fake number pad (so I think Alt-Fn klu would get you Alt-234, or Ω).

Beyond that, there might be a script or browser plug in out there to let you do it in some convenient way.

Tried all of that, I can just open Character Map and get it there, shortcut keys are just handier. Thanks anyways.
