Been away for awhile, doing some back country camping and canoeing for four days. Guess no one missed me. Had Mountain House freeze dried vegetable and beef stew for the first time. Have to admit, this stuff is actually edible, especially when you're hungry.

Yes. It is conveniently designed for back country back packing. You boil 500ml of water, tear open the package, pour the hot water into the pouch, stir, seal the zip-lock closure and wait for 8 minutes for the water to be absorbed. Then you open, stir and enjoy straight from the pouch. One package has two servings but a hungry hiker can devour the one packet easily. You just have to remember to remove the little packet of dessicant. Probably wouldn't taste too good.

I've lived on that type of food for about 10 days straight, when I was on a exercise in the National Guard. We have complete packages, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just add water. After a couple of days, I start fantasizing of eating a beef, rarely done with boiled potatoes....

Yummy!

I am a member of Toastmasters. Right now I am building a Travelling Toaster on the back of an e-tricycle for a parade coming up in August. It's mainly all wood and cardboard. This is single slice toaster and a slice of bread is going to pop up in the middle. Any ideas of how I can add some electronics to this project?

@ Chips,..Truck innertube folded over and wraped, then use co2 cartridge to lift you.
After you deflat, use another one, easy to exchange.A solid piece of plywood
as platform. Are you the toast. Using a 12 volt battery operated air pump use
to inflat tube would lift your toast using intertube under platform. It depends
on how long the parade is..A quick release without valve you could pump up
release, and repeat or a small motor with a wooden oval wheel that the
rounded part of the wheel is up and a flat side for down. I like the football
shape plywood rotating under platform to keep toast moving up and down.
You can use your vehicle for power. Put a wooden dowel, insert motor
shaft into dowel to wooden shape moving up and down, this is an idea
you have make the materials strong to last the event.

High intensity LEDs while the "bread" is in the toaster. It would have to be bright though, to be seen in daylight, and it may not be possible. A light that is lite when the handle is down?

If you want humor, a smoke generator just before a really black piece of toast is ejected.

Going down the road, the football shape piece of wood when vertical
the toast is up,when horizonal the toast is down.So you need the motor
or some way off your drive train to keep the toast up and down.
Bill gave you the burned toast theory.

I like the picture of the Battery on the Head.
Reminds me of the DIY EV Electric Vehicle owners who
I have recently been working with who can barely use a DVM nor re-connect wire connections they way they were found. Then they wonder why things don't work !
