in 1969 I drove my 1947 knucklehead from Chicago to San Francisco and back on a dare. it took two weeks longer than expected but still made it.
I still have the bike and drive it ossasionally to the bar and back but never on long rides.

do you have any photos of the pans?

I gave up riding street bikes back in 1981 when a pick-up truck plowed into me on the way to university one morning. I broke several ribs, one finger and both collar bones. The police told me that a withness said that I was tossed like a rag doll between a bus stop post and a concrete bench. When I went back to have a look-see after some healing, the space between them was less than 2 feet. I considered my self lucky to be alive.

 

That's why doctors call motorcyclists "organ donors". I'm a cyclist (no motor) myself and I've been hospitalised several times, none of them my fault. I'm already far past the life expectancy of a cyclist which is about 6000 miles.

 

Does my Honda Rebel count, It looks like a small Harley,sounds tough.
Fla require a motorcycle stamp on lisence. No helmet law. Went down
on Miami Beach where buses did sharp turn and sloshed diesel fuel on
the road. Just got a shifter hole in my lower leg,toughed It out,kept
going. Didn't reliize It was deep until I got home,couldn't hold up the
pack.

Wow, I had no idea it was so safe over here. I suppose having smaller cars helps, because you tend to go over the bonnet (hood).

heck yes they count!
back in my youth I raced scrambles and TTs on BSAs and Triumphs (650)
then to trials and enduros with Yamahas and Hondas.
Still have a Yamaha IT250 I beat the snot out of at times.
As I aged, I realized I did not heal as well as I did in my teens.
I always tried to take a trail or hill faster than the time before. Like golfers like to lessen their score every round. Recklessness overcomes caution and leaves behind pain.
I know...Pain is just weakness leaving the body...but I find nowadays that the road is less painful.
Either way, I realize that the only times I was injured on a bike was because I was either not paying attention or riding like an idiot.(hindsight)

A childhood chum rode for the Husqvarna factory race team. He was a 6 time medalist in the ISDT races. the Isle of Wight Trials was his most glorious win he says. This was sometime in the seventys.
So yes, Husqvarnas do count

In my younger days I also rode. At 15 I had a '57 Harley 3 wheeler, an old police traffic bike. At 16 I had a '48 Indian Chief. I got them for a song,
$125 for the Harley, and $150 for the Indian. Don't you wish you could go back in time and store all the things you sold for practically nothing.
Also had a '55 Sedan Delivery, '64 GTO convertible, '55 Pontiac Safari (2 door station wagon) and numerous other collectibles...
