This is always a good idea if it is a niche item. Provided it's only one message and not a rain of spam every time you list something. If you haven't shipped them yet, ask if he'd like two more for the same price to save shipping/hassle?

The problem with last second popping is the other guy may have a $100 bid showing but have a "$150 max bid" already entered and when you drop in your $120 his max automatically is above it. That has happened to me quite a bit.

I am a classic sniper. I wait for the last 30 seconds and give the max I am willing to pay plus 2¢, to frustrate other snipers.

My strategy was to add something like 20% to the highest bid within the last 10 seconds. I typically came in somewhere in the top bids that were made just in time.

Since my paypal account was hacked (and they didn't seem to care) I rarely use eBay, unless the seller will take checks/money orders.

I swore off Paypal many years ago, when they screwed me by holding back part of my payment. Their website was full of lies as it turned out.

But now Brownout has also taken a look at the thread! eBay uses something like the google algorithm, where if a Lot of people look at a particular auction, the software decides something about it is interesting, and suggests it to more people (it's more aggressive with this concept with commercial sellers, though it happens with private sellers).

Besides, only a few hours to go to snag this for $160 and leave Spinnaker Heartbroken!

Then you only have to include 2 probes, take better pictures, and flip to make an easy $50.

If I were selling it, I'd throw in a PWM generator, probably one of my mass run designs so total cost is a few cents, 2 10x/1x switchable probes, and a DVD with "The XYZs of Oscilloscopes" PDF, service manual PDF, etc. all burnt on the DVD. A package like that is what makes a scope go for $225 instead of $140. Total cost, under $10 to spiff it up, and a little TLC for photos.

Ok heres how you F with ebay. Spinnaker you've got a question on your auction. Answer it with your probe info weather its an extra set or the set that comes with it. Make sure you click Make Seen by All. Or Publish question to all. or Make questions public.

Lousy ebay made me go upstairs to my regular PC. I could not figure out how to see my messages on my nexus. Their mobile site is confusing.

Well if it moves then can only go up! I can live with $177. Lets hope it does better.

If you figure you can get a brand new 100mhz digital, for less than $400 these days I guess near $200 is good for an ancient scope. Though the teks are very fixable. I already fixed this one. But I was lucky, it was an op amp that was easily reachable. I cant imagine trying to have to remove several of those boards, and wonder how you could troubleshoot it anyway.

It sold for $177.50. I wish I would have done a little better then again it could have been worse.
