Hi
Ime not sure I noticed it tbh, transformer lead is just a twin wire, there is no markings on the plug, have ordered a new socket, nothing has been touched and has been charging fine, it gets charged prob once every couple of weeks, I use it regulary for small electrical items repair that I collect locally then they go to a local charity shop if ok ( I do PAT test) items after repair.
cheers

Yikes, that plug looks nasty. All pitted from corrosion. Geeze, buy some new stuff will ya :)

I was expecting to see marking like in this photo.

Note the device and charger are from different products in the picture.
It is just NOT POSSIBLE for a fault on the connectors to reverse the polarity. Someone must have changed over the connections.

Hi
Not corrosion, it is the copper/brass underneath the chromed outer surface, it just showed when I cleaned it.
cheers
Oh ok, that makes sense. The image makes it look like it was all pitted.

If you ever find out what caused the apparent polarity reversal that would be interesting to hear. Thanks.

Hi
Just a update, fit a new plug end and it is charging ok, had a look at the old socket and there was a small piece of something at the bottom , tried to get it out but it just crumbled, I think the plug was not going fully into the socket and only the centre + pole was feeding the pcb, would that have caused the weird readings ?.
Cheers
Spike

note:
I did clean the plug and socket with Meths, but obviously I could not get anything down into the socket, just rinsed it with Meths.
