As the title suggests, yesterday the mosfet in my Ryobi 18v cordless drill gave up the ghost. The drills probably a solid 15 years old.. was my grandfathers. One of those things where he couldn't find his, bought a new one, then later found the missing one. Anyway..

Last year I bought a Lithium battery to replace it's dead NiCad OEM one. That fact might be important.. IDK. Anyway upon dissection the fet in quest did in fact actually pop. Most of the front half decided to separate itself from the remainder. It's an ST Micro P75NS04Z. According to the datasheet its an N-channel 'clamped'... in all my like 1.2 years of being into this stuff, have I come across 'clamped'.
The internal schematic has like 4 Schottky diodes between the legs.. super interesting. Anyway, while obviously I can order some replacements I had hoped to ask if it's possible to replace this guy with some other type of N-channel fet?
