Good day
I have a 3 wire, single phase, reversable motor that I use to control the Travis of rope being wound on a bobbin.
One wire connected through a capacitor and the other two wires through through the NO & NC of the relay to alternate the direction.
Is it possible and if so, how would you control the speed of the motor.
Thanks in advance.

Single phase motors are hard to regulate, especially over a certain size.
Attempts have been made to create VFD's for these motors as is done with their 3ph counterparts, , but they tend to drop out of run underload, or at low speeds.
What is the size of the present motor?
