Century Reversible 2 speed motor to 3PDT switch, can someone shed some light on this?

I'm working on an old window fan. A Reed Unit-Fans RUF-24 made in New Orleans. It has a very curious switch I have never seen before.

The motor lists no where on it that it is reversible, but the tag over the switch says "To start in exhaust, throw switch up and allow to come to speed then quickly throw switch to the other pole without stopping in the off position." To start on intake, you do the opposite action (up to down quickly). When the fan starts on exhaust, it starts on high, and when on intake, on low. I marked out the wires and made a diagram but how would you recreate this with a modern motor?
