Hi, new here and looking for some help. I need to build a new controller for my Minn Kota electric trolling motor. It is an older hand control model and the control mechanism is shot and cannot be replaced/repaired. The manufacturers replacement lacks the performance of the original.

24V DC Brushed Motor. Continuous operation up to 40 AMPs for up to 10 minutes. Infinitely variable speed in both directions, controlled by a single potentiomemter with center off.

Any able to help with a design for this ?

There are a lot of Arduino motor designs around. You could go that route and build your own version.
