Hi, how easy* is it to replace a 1" ribbon connector as shown in the pic?
This connector on a laptop motherboard is broken, but the board was otherwise intact at the time it was replaced.
However its replacement now has an electronic fault so I thought why not swap over the connector..?
The span of the red arrow on the reverse side correlates with the location of the connector on the opposite side...
*Skills are basic - intermediate level.
Thanks

I do not see the connector, but I can tell you that unsoldering any thru-hole device on a multi-layer PCB is a serious challenge without the correct equipment.

I was faced with a similar case recently and came up with a piece of 4mm copper plate I had and made a 30mm x 15mm square de-soldering tip .
the tip was beveled to a pointed taper along the 30mm side, a small 3mm rod was brazed to the centre of the tip.
the copper tip end was heated with a propane torch,
Worked like a charm.
In Much of DIY electronics, improvising is often the case.

thanks...I'll proceed with an attempt....its a 7 y.o laptop with other problems, and the cost of a replacement motherboard makes a DIY repair worth the risk.
