Replacing 1N5819 diode on a DSO138 oscilloscope

Hello,

A while back I bought a DIY Oscilloscope kit from Aliexpress for only $20. The reviews of it were quite promising so when it arrived today I wanted to try it immediately. How over, the necessary diodes in the kit were missing!
The ones needed were a 1N4004 (or 1N4007) and a 1N5819 diode.
Luckily I have about 200 of the first, however I don't have any other diodes laying around. I did however find an SS34 Diode.

According to the datasheets it is quite similar to the 1N5819:

You can see the component in the scheme down by the power supply:

What do you guys think? I have no reason for ordering any parts any time soon so it would be great if this works.

So by now I have spent a lot of time trying to make things work; the diodes were not a problem so far I guess but there seems to be a short somewhere and I haven't managed to find the cause.

Spent the entire day trying to find it and I desoldered half the components while doing so but no results so far.. I think I'm going to order a new one and give it a second try. The PCB was a bit sketchy anyways, with some extra connections that shouldn't have been there.

Thanks for the help though, sadly it was a lost cause.

Check U4 & U5 regulators I mistakenly put them in the wrong place & had a short as the numbering on them was very hard to read. I have built 2 of them & find them quite usefull. Also be carefull with U2, TL084 also very easy to mount the wrong way as the markings are a little obscure.
