replacement CA3026 has different pinouts on my EML-500 synth modulator?!

I have an old eml-500 synth and the ca3026 is blown on the modulator. the schematic has different pinouts than the ca3026 datasheet. Pin 5 on schematic is pin 6 on datasheet, pin 6 is pin 5, pin 7 is pin 10, pin 10 is pin 7, pin 11 is pin 12, and pin 12 is pin 11. the datasheet says "slash series ic" on the top. The synth is from the mid 70's. IC is a can, with a code, "H 910" under the RCA label. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Only thing I can think of is that the schematic i have is for the black box dip type, not can...

Did you get hit with the index pin not being #1. On that part, pin #12 is the index pin. http://www.weisd.com/test/GenericParts_WEISD_view.php?editid1=CA3026 On other can op-amps that have less then 12 pins, the last pin or pin 8 is marked. (e.g. CA3140.

There was an S package that shaped the leads into a DIP shape.
index is pin 1. its not an nte906, but its the same as the ca3026 datasheet pinout, not the eml-500 schematic though. some pins are swapped... maybe its an older version of the can ic???

NTE/ECG made replacement repair parts with their own number.

Here's a TO-5 package datasheet and note the index is the LAST pin #.

I worked on an in-house made circuit that used the CA3140 and CA3160 parts that didn't work right until I changed the OP Amp type and those parts, Pin 8 (The one with the tab) was the index.
