The test current is limited by an internal resistor at around 55 mA. Your meter probably is not catching the transient firing current. Scott says it is amps, not mA, for a brief period.

I don't have a high end meter, so I am sure you are right. I did hook up some talons and ematches tonight and tried to get current readings, but I still was not seeing anything over 400mA. I could see with multiples hooked up it could get up into amps.

What are your thoughts AK? Do you think this is going to be possible? Sensing the higher current seems like the biggest challenge.

I am not quite sure where to go with this now. I need to figure out a way to only allow current to pass from the input if it is greater than 50 mA.
