You don't need that relay module if using the SSR.

Thanks this is great, I will need to order a box of resistors as I dont have any loose ones laying around, do you think the 1k ohm resistor in this circuit is absolutely crucial and I shouldnt try it without it, or its just good to have? I'm trying to test on my bench and I have everything but the resistor but I can wait if you think it will fry without it.

You can try it connected directly to the input of the SSR without the resistor. Read the voltage directly on the input, needs minimum of 3 volts to activate the SSR

I have found this online, I'm not sure if this can handle a large load but I think it could handle the signal voltage being sent to a larger main relay (50a). I might try having the PWM signal go to this and then go from there. Maybe this might help clear up any confusion anyone had about me using PWM to switch a load (MisterBill2).

What You are attempting is not "New", and not "Patentable", and not "Secret", and IS very hazardous.

24-volts times ~50-Amps = 1200-Watts.
Your Battery can only supply this much Power for a few seconds before catching on Fire.

Where can I buy one then? You say what I'm doing is obviously not new or patentable so where can I get one? What is it called? Clearly you know nothing about RC if you're saying its very hazardous and the battery would blow in a few seconds. Many RC vehicles use 6s or higher with a range of 3.7-4.2v = 22.2-25.2v, most batteries are close to 100c and can discharge very quickly. I also fly quads and most 5" quads have a similiar set up with a 6s battery and 50a esc with a peak of 65a on the esc. I'm not as wild of a pilot as some freestyle guys but many of them run as hard as they can until the battery hits 3.7v or lower. Mr Steele is one example and he has videos showing 2-4min flight times, its not max throttle the entire time but hes as close to it as he can possibly get. So if you were correct then his batteries would catch fire within seconds of taking off. Other RC planes depending on size can have a 40a esc or even a 100a esc, these planes run at a steady throttle for most of the flight, so you're saying those would also catch fire within a few seconds?

So since you know what I'm doing and that its not "new" or "patentable" then explain what I'm trying to accomplish and where I can buy one that already exists please.

Thanks for proving my point, I've got all I need from the helpful members of this forum. You obviously are of no help. Also, what have I not explained?

ELRS Receiver sends a signal on CH6, the PWM converter takes that and activates the signal for PWM6, typically this plus the red and black pins for PWM6 will power a servo.

I would like it to switch a large 50a relay with this, I have found an RC Switch from MenaceRC that will take the PWM signal and activate the switch, but I hadn't found the RC Switch yet when I made the post and was basically trying to create one for this project.

What other details do you need to know? I have used the examples listed earlier and the SSR relay lights up but it is a weak light and doesn't actuate the relay. If I use the capacitor listed above nothing happens at all. If I send the 5v from the receiver to the relay everything works exactly as planned. So, I ordered the RC Switch for now and I'll see if that works, it should. The RC switch is used to switch LED's on and off, I'm going to have it switch my relay on and off and everything should work as expected.

This doesn't have to go to a 50a relay, this could be used to power on/off a VTX, you're getting hung up on the power and that's not the problem. It could power LEDs, bilge pump on a RC boat, anything. Ultimately, without knowing the RC Switch was available yet, I was trying to create the RC switch to complete the project. So unless you know how to make an RC switch using PWM from a CSRF to PWM Converter then the rest is irrelevant.

Hello and thanks in advance for your help, if I have said anything incorrectly I apologize and will try to supply more details if needed.

I have a PWM signal that is coming from a radio receiver and the receiver outputs either SBUS or PWM signal. I have a PWM Signal converter that also takes the radio signal and converts it to PWM, this may or may not be needed but I think the principal is the same with either one that I use.

I would like for the PWM signal, when triggered by my radio switch, to supply power to the relay. I have looked into several options for the relay and might need to use a solid state relay but I'm not sure. I have also found relays that will trigger with a PWM signal but they only go to 30 amps and I need 50-65amps so these relays might not work. I could possibly have this relay trigger a bigger relay if needed but I'm trying to be conscious with weight on this. I'm afraid that if I send the PWM signal directly to the relay it will buzz and constantly be switching on and off. I have seen cases where people use a capacitor or mosfet to resolve this issue and that might work but again I'd like to keep the weight down.

I am going to try this on my bench shortly so I guess I'll find out the hard way if this works or not but do you think that the PWM signal sent to the relay will fry the relay or cause contact welding? My next test is to try using a 4.7uf capacitor and see if the relay will stop buzzing (if it does but I think it will). After that I'm thinking I'd send the signal to a MOSFET or transistor and allow that voltage to trigger the relay. Does anyone else have a better idea or is this a good plan to start with?

This is for an RC plane, I would like to use a large relay up to 50a and control it with my radio signal, if this was a servo everything would be no problem but I'm afraid sending the PWM signal to a relay thats constantly on for a long period of time is my problem.
Hello, if you work with High Intensity Relay, I think that the bobine or self have a high level of current to activate this mecanics contacts, I want to alert you, don't forget to protect de system that activate the relay, I suppose that you know this solution, in French, ' la diode de roue libre ' .A normal diode set in // with the 2 contacts of the relay and his Cathode is in the inversed polarity of the relay thus the anode is connected with the self's negatif pôle of the relay to protect it from the current or negative effects that the self of the relay can provide. I repeat my statement from post #9: Let us know what the actual intent is, instead of telling us to discover a way to solve an imagined problem.
That load at that voltage could be a trigger for a nuclear explosive device, for instance. Exploding bridgewire is a a well developed method for initiating ordinance, a mature scheme that uses a high current pulse for a very short time.

I am opposed to random individuals detonating unknown ordinance for unknown reasons, by remote control.

If you rectify and filter the PWM signal with a diode followed by a capacitor to common, then the output will be basically equally to the peak PWM signal voltage, independent of the PWM duty-cycle.
Would that work for you?
Until you place a load on it. Then it will approach the voltage x the duty cycle.

Another way to use a relay when the signal is PWM is to use a Watch-Dog timer triggered by the PWM signal. As long as the PWM is running the relay gets full voltage,
A simple 555 could do it or one of the specialty MAX6369 etc.

If the PWM signal is designed to control an RC servo, then the duty cycle is at most 10% (2ms out of 20). That is not likely to directly power a relay. Why not use small servo to mechanically trip a 50A switch? That is likely less weight than a 50A relay.

I was at an RC model airplane meet and a brand new large airplane with a brand new battery caught on fire during the first takeoff.
The Li-PO batteries in my small RC airplanes become warm, not hot.

oh yea there are all kinds of failures that happen. But under normal situations these planes and quads can go for 2-10 minutes of flight time and unless there is a mechanical issue they don’t catch on fire, they do get very warm but unless there is a problem there’s no fire. I’ve crashed and had one burst into flames, it happens.

I thought about this a lot but it seemed a little rudimentary and I figured there was a better way to do it electronically but this is an option as a fall back.
