Got one of these boards https://www.waveshare.com/solar-power-manager.htm for a future project and I would like to know everything about it before I go modifying to suit my purpose. Finding datasheets for everything except " CS8501: USB power management chip, for USB charging and 5V/1A boost output " almost certain to be a clone or remarked TP5410.https://datasheetspdf.com/datasheet/TP5410.html <--in Chinese)
Many of the reviews and a video from GreatScott
say they (TP4510) will more or less melt down if you get anywhere near to its rated maximum. Now my question is by replaceing R13 at pin3 0.68k with say 1.2k per the TP5410 datasheet will the USB output current be reduced(580ma) along with,or independent of, the battery charge current?

The datasheet does not say \( R_{PROG} \) has any effect ut adjusting charge current. I can't see any reason for the manufacturer to make it influence the output current, nor any hint they've done that.

Thanks for the response Yaakov.
I've translated the PDF and it appears the RROG only effects battery charge current and only if (in the case of the WaveShare board)being charged through the micro USB which given my application is unlikely to ever happen. If my load ever gets beyond 500ma something has gone horribly wrong.
