That's silly on so many scales from all sides
You missed the whole context of my first post, dude. Look at what's going on today, Fla is only one state doing it, saying there never was slavery. Others are saying there is no black history, since they don't even have any.

No, I didn't miss any context. I could give a flying 'blank' about what fools say about slavery, etc.... You wanted to make a political statement and did, as usual, in the most blatant way possible. End of story.

there is no white history or Latino history either and nobody is making fuss about it.
slavery existed all over he world, regardless of skin color. some just prefer to make it sound like it was always group of one color exploiting group of people of another color which is a complete fabrication.

back to topic... several industrial fieldbuses now are trying to use more politically correct soft terms. instead of master/slave, some chose to use controller/device, scanner/adapter, etc. i don't really care what terms are used but would prefer to make them consistent and applied universally. until that happens, i am sticking with Master/Slave. don't mean to offend anyone but language police is gone way too far. and no matter what is used, someone is always bound to be offended. i would recommend to those offended to grow thicker skin... i am offended that people are changing language.

They have never been consistent: why is the clock called SCL in I2C but SCK in SPI?
All TI's SPI peripheral ICs have the data pins labelled DI and DO, no mention of master or slave.

As I mentioned earlier, these terms are metaphors, unless we pass laws prohibiting metaphors in human communication, I see no problem.

Slavery did and does get practiced in some societies, so it does literally exist but can also be used metaphorically as are so many other terms.

We use "hot" for the live AC wire, yet it is not literally at a high temperature, likewise cold, so use of some phrase as a metaphor is not an expression of approval for the literal meaning, it is just a way of conveying a similarity to that literal meaning.

SPI SCK is a clock with explicit high/low push/pull outputs (able to drive the signal at max logic rates). I2C SCL is a open collector/drain signal (slower because of RC pull-up delays). There is a design difference and a valid reason for the signal name difference.

30MHz SPI SCK.

What about Manchester?

I still can't cope with "batsman" being replaced by "batter". Batter is what you put on fish before you fry it.
