I am not sure if this forum is the proper forum for application error's. I have windows 10 and protools 12 on my laptop and
I cannot open the protools application.

The error I get is

{\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\nouicompat\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Calibri;}}
{\*\generator Riched20 10.0.17134}\viewkind4\uc1
\pard\sa200\sl276\slmult1\f0\fs22\lang9 Could not complete your request because Assertion in "E:\\ Code\\ 238951\\ ProTools\\ AAE\\ Source\\ AAX\\ CFicAAXWidget.cpp", line 994.\par
\par
(Use the Copy button to copy this message to the clipboard.). \par

I was wondering how to remedy this problem.

If this is not the correct forum, please let me know which forum would be suitable for this problem. I did use the avid forum but I seem
to venture into a complex solution that seems to not work.

Interesting they left asserts in a release build, typically assert is only used in debug builds, for various reasons. I'm not familiar with protools, but I would get in touch with their support department. Anyone with the source code could look at that line and tell you right away what's causing the assert, and they may be able to tell you how to fix it. What steps do you take to reproduce the issue?

I used control+n while the application is loading up. And chose a4all40 driver when asked which
driver I want to use.

This seemed to remedy the error message and closure of the application. Prior to this step I installed the a4all40 This driver is used
to make the Protools application work.
