I was wondering if anyone supplies prewired 5mm LEDs that don't have the resistor preinstalled? I'm using two LEDs in series so I will be using a 470 ohm resistor on my PCB. Any supplier suggestions?

as far as i know they always do include series resistor. that is the point if getting assembly. did you consider connecting them in parallel?

Yes. Search internet for "Prewired LED no resistor 5mm". But they are kinda pricey.

Yes. I had been bypassing my resistor and connecting in parallel, but during my PCB development recently, someone had stated they should be in series, which I agree with. Also, using a 470 ohm resistor in series provides the brightness I am looking for. I think they are prewired with 680 ohm ???

 

OMG! I will continue with manually removing the provided resistors as I have done to ten pairs already. The ones you posted above are crazy expensive:

It's the cheap pre-wire red/black Chinese indicators.

 

What voltage do you want to use?
How bright do you want them (10mA, 15mA) ?
What's their forward voltage?

The ones you already have - what voltage were they intended to be used on?

12v, 20mA

 

Maybe it would be best to use two non prewired LEDs and solder the three required wires on... six solder joints:
12v (on PCB) to anode
cathode to anode
cathode to pad on PCB (to 470 ohm resistor, to GND)
