Can anyone tell me what this is??? What is it designed to do? And how new is it perhaps?

Apparently my surmise was correct.A search for bg2300f01002-1a turns up this:
https://www.amazon.com/NUTONE-IMA3303WH-Whole-Intercom-System/dp/B0002OIZJC
NUTONE IMA3303WH Whole House Intercom System
- 15 watt amplifier drives up to 13 remote stations and 3 door stations
- Built-in AM/FM radio with 12 presets
- Monitor any room in the house from any station
- Battery back-up for up to 30 hours
- Provision for mounting an optional gate/door release
And once again, that is what the thing USED TO BE! With the very broken circuit board it is not likely that that any of those functions can be realized now.. But possiby the amplifier output section might be recoverable. And certainly the heatsink is OK.Apparently my surmise was correct.
