Okay.

Completed successful read of 12F508 with clone and LPC board.

So it points at connections on breadboard with 10F200.

It is jumpers from ICSP header to 12F200.

One 4.7 K ohm resistor from MCLR to VDD.

'I don't understand your post.'

The LPC board is wired for 12F508's.

Lines are in wrong place for 10F200.

Okay.

Had a successful read of 10F200 on breadboard.

Calibration code is 0C28 in last memory location.

Balky software. Microchip IPE.

Rebooted. Then loaded 12F1501 firmware just to put something else in PICKit 3.

Then loaded 10F200 firmware.

Earlier it was not going through loading firmware in output window when I would switch from

12F508 to 10F200.

This IPE does this alot. Gives you messages when it has not done anything.

Like 'Successful Read' and 'IPE ready'.

Who knows what they were thinking making it like that.

Yes I like the feedback from the IPE over the one in the IDE. The old IDE gave you similar feedback to the IDE. I am not sure why they changed that. :( Often I use the IPE just to test if I can "talk" to the chip and see what is going on.

Just like I said wired wrong
And microchip did make a red pickit2 it was the first ones they made they they made a change to it and came out with the black ones a real pickit 2 was 65 to 75. To did a clone of it back 8 years ago it works just as good or better then my real one for some reason it programs faster but I seem to think that's because of the fixed voltage it shows the chips powered.
Yes people have problem making one and using them but most is the operator error.
Or part backward.
On a homemade job

Thank you Spinnaker

I went running for IPE after programming in MPLAB IDE.

I think programming in IDE is just for working with one PIC after you have things

sorted out.

'Best case' scenario.

Now the 10F200 breadboard circuit has a bona fide resistor on it.

I checked the 4.7 K ohm resistor. I don't think it was a 4.7

It's hard for me to tell between brown and red. Red and orange. Black and Blue on these resistors.

Now it has a 10 K one. Pretty sure about that.

I will check it again and see if it will read repeatedly without rebooting.

Ok Bob lets look at this you have a board that was made for a 12fXXX chip you put a 10F200 on it and it didn't work.
Or you was using a 12f 508 or something like that an popped in a 10f200

Pins for a 10f200
Pin 1 not used -| |- Pin 5 MCLR
Pin 2 Vdd -| |- Pin 6 VSS
Pin 3 GP2 -| |- Pin 7 Not used
Pin 4 ISPCLK -| |- Pin 8 ISPDAT

Pins for a 12F508
Pin 1 VDD -| |- Pin 5 VSS
Pin 2 GP5 -| |- Pin 6 ISPDAT
Pin 3 GP4 -| |- Pin 7 ISPCLK
Pin 4 GP3 -| |- Pin 8 GP2

Now look at the above there no way the same will not work on the same board without some jumpers
And power pins changes

I made the 'Big Forum Mistake' again.

Made an extra comment about other PIC.

Low Pin Count board has 12F508 on it.

Breadboard has 10F200 on it with 10 K resistor.

Both read fine with PICKit 3 clone.
