As a net exporter, wouldn't we stand to gain from a global disruption? Of course tanking the global economy wouldn't be good for anyone but it seems we should be a LOT more immune from Iranian dickery than we used to be.

We are more immune but I can easily see us in the middle of a mess to protect our allies supply chain from disruption. So far it only looks like limpet mine damage so a mine sweeping operation is a possibility with maybe an operation to take-out a few bad actors laying the mines. Iran says they are not responsible so why should they care if a few rogues get sent to hell by the SEALS.

Looks like a floating or attached weapon at the waterline.

A 'real' torpedo or ASM missile is designed to explode under the ships waterline causing a void that cracks the keel from the upward explosion force and the downward pull of gravity once the upward force quickly dissipates.

I live almost next to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center where Homeland Security trains all of its Customs, Border Patrol, Immigration, ICE, you name it in Brunswick GA and the town is overflowing with illegals.
Now watch it Sam they're actually called Undocumented immigrants as the left would say. They never stop to think what this does to our economy. Undocumented = Illegal. While you and I are held to one standard of laws they have a different set. They get funds for school, health care and other financial help you and I can't even apply for. Then let's don't forget sanctuary cities that take our money and give it others that don't even belong here.

I wouldn't be to fast pointing the blame to one party. This could be quickly stopped or at least curtailed by a large margin by something that the party you guys don't like has tried to pass many times over the years - E-Verifiy.

The party you like made the use of E-Verify by private companies illegal in Illinois. That was struck down and replaced by onerous rules that effectively kill it while not making it strictly illegal.

And, expanded and mandatory E-Verify was in the President's budget proposed in February. Mitt Romney is sponsoring a bill that would accomplish that, making for an odd alliance of these two.

E-verify has nothing to do with crossing our border illegally. Once here they have more rights than you or I. Both sides are to blame. I think it was in the 1920, 30's it was made a law not to enter our country illegally but it wasn't enforced now they say we have 20 million illegals here... I'd bet it's more. My question is when is it toooo many? At what number do we say enough is enough?

Here in Georgia, you have to produce a government-issued Photo ID to vote. Either a valid Government issued ID, Driver License or Passport. In order to renew my Drivers License, I had to provide a copy of my Birth Certificate which I have never had. So I sent the request off to the state of Virginia and received one to produce in order to renew. I do have a valid US Birth Certificate I can produce that is not a forged document, unlike a certain un-named ex-president. However, the demand is high in this area for cheap farm labor, construction labor, restaurant workers, and landscapers with no questions asked. My Latino neighbor from New Mexico taught International Law at the FLETC. At least twice a year he would have to wear the Uniform and strap on a sidearm to go and check with a team the migrant farm workers in the Glenville/Vidalia GA onion fields. He rotated out several years ago and since then the illegal population has boomed during the last presidential administration. Mostly Indios from the Oaxaca Province region of Mexico who do not speak Spanish but their own native dialect.

If you haven't already, look up the CIA World Factbook. And look at the Proved Oil Reserves of the various countries, exports, import, refining, consumption, etc. For some reason it now has the US Reserves as NA not available. In previous versions, we had more reserves than any other country and we a the world's Number One Consumer of Oil. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/

it wasn't enforced
Au Contraire it was very rigidly enforced until the prior administration. Most illegals entered this country legally and did not leave and became illegal. They didn't sneak in, they came as Students on Visas, Business people on Visas, People with Visas coming to visit family, Tourists both with and without Visas. Most of INS work is not done at the borders but in large metropolitan areas. After the Shah of Iran was deposed there was a glut of "Marriages of Convenience" by Iranian students who "bought" wives in order to not be deported. Most think of Mexicano illegals but that is a fallacy. China, Russia, Europe, Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Israel, South America, Pacific Rim, Australia, and yes even Canadian illegals. TSA will stop them if they attempt to fly but no problem buying or renting a car.
