Gee. What a surprise that someone that, allegedly, forged inspection reports (i.e., blatantly and deliberately lie) hundreds of times would claim that he never did it and someone forged his signature (i.e., blatantly and deliberately lie about blatantly and deliberately lying).

Unless it was all done over the phone/internet it shouldn't be hard to find enough people that he interacted with who can say, "Yep, that's the person that I met at the inspection site with who supposedly did the inspection."

I've driven the Tamiami Trail a number of times and I'm sure I've gone right by there!

So I'm sure there are alligators and swamp and all, but if you're desperate, would it really be that hard to escape? I mean once you leave the facility and have only nature to deal with. Just because there are panthers doesn't guarantee you're going to see one. Alcatraz is surrounded by water in the 50's. That's a death sentence without a boat.

Did you know we have joggers killed by gators* down here?

Wandering knee-deep through miles -- day and night (arrrg!) -- of Everglades would be a harrowing experience.

I'd say fear would prevent all but the most desperate from trying to escape.

*That poor lady was killed by my house!

Yes, I have a hunch the little things - bugs, mud, water, plants - would be the biggest problem. Apex predators are scarier but maybe not as certain a threat.

When I'm in the Orlando area I go jogging at the Orlando Wetlands park in Christmas. (I can't recommend it more as something to do near Orlando. Tons of wildlife.) On one run I came upon a monster of a gator sunning on the bank. I spotted it in time but not a LOT of time before getting too close. Good adrenaline boost.

I once read a harrowing story of someone who had escaped from abductors in, I recall correctly, Colombia.
He said: everything in the jungle bites, attacks, stings, cuts, causes rashes, is poisonous, causes infections, inflammation or otherwise attempts all sorts of harm to you.
He said that the worst were always the nights; you simply can’t lie down because within minutes all sorts of creatures would be crawling upon you and attempting to burrow inside your body through any orifice.
Couple that with a scorching sun and oppressive humidity, thirst and hunger, and you are as close as experiencing hell on earth.

Today, people do that for fame and money.

We used MIL-SPEC bug-juice to keep them away while riding horses on the jungle trails but I tried to never to go camping with the grunts in the Philippines jungle.
