Hi people I'm new to the electrical scene. I have a feeling I will be a regular to this forum!

To cut a long story short I'm creating a product that involves a pir module. Basically it's a 12v input with a 3.1v output my question is how can I get it to produce a 12v output ? Any help will be apriciated.

Use the output from the PIR to switch the gate of an N-channel MOSFET that will switch the LED string on. Something like an IRL8721. It will be overkill for your project since it will handle much more current than your LEDs will require. You will need a pull-down resistor on the gate, the source connected to common, and the LED string between the drain and +12V.

Nice part! I wasn't familiar with it.

hi Frankie,
This image has the PIR circuit diagram for the PIR PCB.

You need either a FET or Transistor circuit to increase the 3Vout to a 12V signal.
What is the 12V signal driving into.??
E

EDIT:
This transistor circuit is one option, I use it with that PIR type.
NOTE:
The CDS2 LDR can be added to make the PIR Day/Night active.

Thanks for the images. It will be going into a 12v led light basicly I'm making a portable rechargable light

hi F,
Do you have details of the 12V LED that you could post.? ie: current rating.
The PIR will only output approx 2mA of Base current to an output transistor.

This is the only information I can find ?
Operating voltage: 12V DC
* Inpute Power: 12V*0.13A

Like I say I'm really new to this so have a lot of learning to do lol

hi,
The 2N2222 transistor will be close to its specified limits of gain for that Base and Collector current.
I would try the 2N2222, if it runs 'hot' we will need to use a different type.
Have you reasonable access to a semiconductor supplier.?

hi,
Its not a problem,;)
It would help if you posted some background details of your project.
ie:
How is powered.?
Indoor or Outdoor use, is a weather proof box required.?
How many 12v LED's do you want to drive.?
A part number of the LED, so that we can check it out, its important.
The transistor would be mounted on its own small PCB, together with any other small components.

So I've attached a image of my protatype it's basicly a pir light for fishing and will have the following.

12v 3000ah li ion battery
3 position switch on off auto
Charger port at the bottom
Pir sensor to power the led panel ( in links )

I would also like to be able to add a aux port on to it so it can be connected to bite alarms so when the bite alarm goes the light can come on. I hope this is good information for you

hi F,
This circuit is one option.
Uses a Darlington TIP101, this transistor is able to switch up to a 500mA load at 12v,without an heatsink.
The selector switch is a 3 way rotary switch, the switch wiper is connected to the Base of the TIP. [ for the demo, the switch is shown in the Auto position]

Mount the TIP and its components on a small PCB.
I would suggest that the battery positive lead is fitted with say, a 500mA fuse.

Note: the 75R represents your 12V lamp assembly.

Do you follow OK.?
