A, B and C can do a piece of work in 20, 30 and 60 days respectively. In how many days can A do the work if he is assisted by B and C on every third day?
So the (effective) fraction of work performed each day = A's share +1/3 B&C share =1/20 +(1/30/1/60)/3 = 1/15
why it is 1/30/1/60? i mean B+C or B*C??

A's share = 1/20 of the job per day

B and C together could do 1/20 of the job per day, however they will be working only 1/3 of the time - hence, their effective contribution = 1/60 of the job per day

Thus 1/20 + 1/60=1/15:)

B and C together could do 1/20 of the job per day
how to get this part?
Working 'full time' 'B' would complete 1/30 of the job per day and 'C' would complete 1/60 of the job per day

Hence 1/30+1/60=1/20

But because they are only working one third of the time, their (effective) contribution
=(1/20)/3=1/60 of the job per day:)

Owing to a rather moronic 'custom' --- The left to right juxtaposition of an integer and a fraction implies addition not multiplication...

Hence: 2 1/8 = 2+(1/8) NOT 2*(1/8):)

??

Working alone, 'A' can complete 1/20 of the job per day...
Similarly 1/30 for 'B' and 1/60 for 'C', respectively

However B and C will only be working 1/3 of the time (i.e. 'every third day')

So the (effective) fraction of work performed each day = A's share +1/3 (B's and C's share):
=1/20 +(1/30/1/60)/3 = 1/15

Get it?:)
RRITESH KAKKAR It is like a is always on the job so gets his 1/20 of the work done each day but b & c bumming around 2 out of three days so both of them together average only 1/60 of the work each day:rolleyes:! So it takes all three of them a whole 15 days to finish project:(! Now I'm saying if b&c worked for me they'd get the sack:mad:!

2 If a rectangle measures 10i meters by 20i meters it has area of NEGATIVE 200 meters! Tell us what is implication of negative area?

3 If a rectangle measures (5+10i) meters by (7-4i) meters it has area of (75+50i) meters. Tell us what is implication of complex area? I give you help with this one only to say that 25*(13)^.5 meters is NOT its area!
i nee to solve this too.

A is thrice as good as workman as B and therefore is able to finish a job in 60 days less than B. Working together, they can do it in:

let B work in =xdays
let A work in =3*xdays
A+B=x+3x....

I do not believe you are a troll!!! -- That said you need to work on concentration -- I'm willing to continue to assist and encourage your study of mathematics however that requires cooperation on your part...

So... Pursuant to that, may we have our next exercise please?:)
